Parent Involvement Opportunities 2020-21
Parent involvement at Bohannon Middle School is crucial to the success of our students. Bohannon has a variety of opportunities for parents to get involved. Please see below for more information.
School Site Council (SSC)
A legally-required decision-making body composed of the principal, 4 teachers, 1 other school personnel, 1 student, and 5 parents or community members. Responsible for providing input on and approving the school plan in order to ensure Bohannon best meets the needs of the community. Meetings are always open to the public and input from all in attendance are encouraged to provide input. Voting members are selected via nomination and voting.
English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC)
Provides input on the school plan to ensure that the needs of Emergent Bilinguals are being met at Bohannon. Consists of 5 elected parents of English Learners (Chair, Vice-Chair, Secretary, School Site Council Representative, and District English Learner Advisory Committee Representative). Any member of the Bohannon community may attend and provide input.
African American Family Council (AAFC)
A group focused on advancing the achievement of African American students at Bohannon. This group also advises the School Site Council and provides input to the principal on how best to support African American students at Bohannon.
Parent Teacher Association/Parent Teacher Organization
Bohannon will be starting a PTA or PTO this year. If you are interested in being part of this, please contact Soledad Camp at firstname.lastname@example.org
